Retro

Sharing my new all-time favorite post today, straight from the retro couches of the new Surfjack Hotel in Waikiki.

First, a little about the Suarfjack. This hotel, which opened this spring, is chock-full of cool vibes. From the killer playlists and the vintage inspired decor to the fine dining and adorable Instagram-worthy coffee bar, everything about the Surfjack allows the energy from Waikiki’s old-school heyday to transcend to the present. Ryan and I stopped over for coffee a couple weeks ago and, no joke, we were both ready to move in on the spot. After chatting up the gent working the coffee bar, we hunkered down on the moss green couch, leaned our heads back against the brightly colored pillows and just completely zoned out. It was weirdly relaxing and after we finished our coffee we couldn’t wait to go back. Luckily, even though it’s a hotel, there are a bunch of other draws for people who aren’t staying there including the Olive + Oliver boutique, the new Mahina & Sun’s restaurant, and the little coffee bar I mentioned earlier. Wouldn’t you know, we’ve been back for coffee a couple of times already, and it’s quickly becoming a go-to spot.

On to the clothes. Smack in the center of the hotel is a pool surrounded by chaise lounges (mind you, an extra cool pool that says “wish you were here” on the bottom, reminiscent of a vintage postcard,) so it was only fitting to don a swimsuit with a pretty coverup. Given the groovy ambience and decor, I felt it was only right to mix my patterns. I threw on this airy rainbow kimono over a pastel print bikini. The perfect ensemble for a coffee and lounge session.

We’ll surely be back soon for dinner or some shopping, and maybe even for a staycation down the road.
