Matchy Matchy

Summer is winding down and I’m feeling really sad (because that means the seasonal depression is just around the river bend)…but I’m trying to make the most out of each summer day that we have left. I’ve been going to the beach as much as possible, ordering my coffee iced, opting to walk from place to place whenever possible, and leaving my windows open. I’ve also been wearing all of my favorite summer pieces. Yeah, yeah, sweater weather is great and all but if it wasn’t already obvious I prefer to dress for warm sunny days. This summer (and last, let’s be honest) I lived in matching sets. I mean, it’s actually excessive how many top and skirt/pant/shorts sets I have. I always justify these purchases by telling myself I can wear them together OR separately, like wow I will have a whole array of new outfits! But really I have a problem, not to mention people in Chicago look at me like I’m absolutely nuts when I walk around in head-to-toe hibiscus print. Dare to be different?

So here are a bunch of photos of me wearing various matching sets that I’ve accumulated over the past two years. I love them all and sometimes I want to move back to Hawaii JUST so I can wear them year round.

Some of these photos are from last year (if the hair color didn’t already give it away) and just never made it to the blog. I could make up various excuses as to why but I’ll spare you and just hope that you all are on board with the “better late than never” mentality because in the nature of full disclosure I have a ton of throwbacks I’m about to hit you with.

SO. A bit about each outfit.

The navy set is something I picked up second hand from Halley Elefante (aka the Salty Blonde.) When I was living in Hawaii I was lucky enough to hit a sale that she and my friend Ali Botma (XIX Palms designer) threw. I fell instantly in love and have worn the pieces so many times. Pictured with a Coach bag and American Eagle rose gold slide sandals. And of course some D’Blanc sunnies because that’s basically all I wear.

The striped set is by one of my forever favorite labels, Faithfull the Brand. I love the faded yellow coloring and the casual side-tie style of the skirt. I prefer these pieces together but I also like the skirt with a shrunken white tee. PS – This outfit is currently for sale in my closet on Poshmark! I styled it with my Amuse Society x Matisse slide sandals from last year and a pair of classic Ray Ban aviators.

The red polka-dotted set is from Charlotte Russe, believe it or not. I stopped in their store earlier this summer in search of an emergency cheap bathing suit. The resemblance to a Flynn Skye set I had my eye on was uncanny and at 1/4 the price I scooped it up. I LOVE the top with mom jeans, but it’s pretty cute as a set, too. I’m wearing it in these photos with a YSL clutch borrowed from the amazing team at DesignerShare.

The yellow wrap top and shorts were purchased from Zara earlier this summer. I made a return but was only able to get store credit…the rest is history. I couldn’t resist the print, which reminds me so much of my Hawaii home. I paired it with beautiful blue suede shoes from M.Gemi and my LV clutch.

ALSO! Since some of these sets are older I made a little scrolly thing at the bottom of this post that includes some of the gorgeous sets I’m currently coveting.

Okay enough about matching sets. Go enjoy the remainder of your summer.
