After two months seemed to drag by waiting for a family trip to the west coast, the actual ten-day vacation flew by in the blink of an eye. Doesn’t it always seem to happen like that? I guess it’s a sign of a good time.

The trip began in Seattle where my sister attends UW. My parents and sister traveled from Wisconsin and Ryan and I hopped a plane and crossed over to the mainland to meet them. After a jam-packed three days in Washington, we left my sister behind to start the new school year and the four of us drove down the coast, stopping in Portland and Sacramento, and finally arriving in San Francisco.

Ryan and I had both been to Seattle when we were young but neither of us really remembered it. With Claire and her roommates as our tour guides, we were able to take in a lot of the city in a short period of time.

My favorite thing we did was visiting Pike Place Market. Not only was the market itself awesome to take in, but it’s also located in such a perfect spot. Situated between the city and the Elliott Bay waterfront, there are lovely views in every direction. I loved browsing the little shops, restaurants, and flower stands. We picked up some fresh tuna to eat, a beautiful bouquet for a friend who hosted us for dinner, and some incense and soaps to bring back home with us.

The weather was gorgeous while we were there but it definitely felt like fall. I loved getting a taste of the brisk weather since I won’t get any of it in Hawaii, and I took full advantage of the opportunity to wear jeans, closed toed shoes, and jackets every day. One of my favorite go-to looks for fall weather is wearing a blazer and jeans. A blazer is such an easy way to achieve a pulled together look and dress up a casual outfit. It’s also not too heavy but is enough to keep off a chill. I brought this tan one back to Hawaii with me…wishful thinking that it may be chilly enough to wear it one evening, but you never know!

More Seattle photos to come. Cheers!
