Blog post number one is brought to you just three short days after moving halfway across the United States and then halfway across the Pacific Ocean to the beyond gorgeous island of Oahu. This place has been like a home away from home for me for the past 22 years of my life, and even more so for the past three years. And now it’s my actual home. Living here is a dream come true.
These first few days have been a whirlwind of unpacking, trying to fit all of my clothes into Ryan’s closet (I feel like Carrie Bradshaw storing sweaters in the oven), catching up with friends, and soaking up some of the early summer sun and extreme heat. In addition, I celebrated my golden birthday on May 22nd. It was a perfect sunshine filled day complete with delicious food, yummy cocktails, and most importantly, good company. Ryan surprised me with 22 yellow roses and a flower crown and made me feel like absolute royalty. It was a birthday for the books, but safe to say that between the bday festivities, graduation, and moving, it has been a busy, busy week.
Now that things are settling down, I’m excited to focus my attention on this website. I’m thrilled to be able to document my new life in Hawaii, as well as my travels, my favorite outfits, and whatever else sparks my attention or inspires me.
I’ll end this post with a favorite Hawaiian word. Ho’onani means to fill your life with beauty. This is what I like to live by. Whether it be something as simple as pulling a forgotten lace dress out from the back of my closet, or something more abstract like finding the light in a bad situation, I aspire to surround myself with beauty each and every day.
